University and College Intensive English Programs

UC Irvine’s 10-Week Intensive ESL Program joined UCIEP in 1989, an independent consortium of US-based university and college-administered intensive English programs founded in 1967 to advance professional standards and quality instruction. The 60-some member programs are committed to high-quality instruction from professional teachers.

American Association of Intensive English Programs

UC Irvine’s 10-Week Intensive ESL Program is a founding member of AAIEP, established in 1986. The English language programs offered by the nearly 300 AAIEP members are of the highest quality since all member programs are accredited by ACCET, CEA, or operate under the governance of regionally accredited colleges or universities.

Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages

International Programs instructors hold active memberships with TESOL and CATESOL and present regularly at national, state, and regional conferences. TESOL’s mission is to develop and maintain professional expertise in English language teaching for speakers of other languages worldwide.

NAFSA

International Programs staff hold memberships in NAFSA and participate in its annual and regional conferences. The association promotes and advocates for international education and provides professional development opportunities.
